Here’s What’s Happening

COVID-19 and Unity of Omaha update

Rev. Becky Whitehead

June 25, 2020 —

Greetings all,

I am going to repeat what I wrote last week because we are trying to get a grasp on where you all are on coming back with restrictions.

I mentioned we are looking at some soft opening steps for our spiritual community. One of the things we are looking at is inviting a few people each week to join us at Unity for our Sunday service. We will do this slowly, and as we see how it goes and how folks comply with the mandated requirements, we will gradually increase the numbers of people for services over the next few months, based on how well it goes.

Here are the guidelines we are asking to be observed:

1. If you have a fever, have any symptoms or feel ill, please stay home and join us via our live streaming.

2. For now, please enter through the back door.

3. Masks are required for entry and if folks are sitting closer than 10 feet during service. (we are striving to create extra safe distances between people so that you may remove your mask during the actual service if you like)

4. Please visit the welcome table for hand sanitizer and a mask if you need one. Other items are on this table for your use and safety as needed.

5. Gathering in the building for social time is not allowed at this time, restrooms are available. You are welcome to chat and visit outside at your discretion.

6. After the service ends, please remain at your seat, we will signal you to leave the sanctuary row by row, we try to enter and occupy seats in the front first and, leave from the back first to reduce exposure.

7. There may be other requests as we move forward, thank you for your love and support.

If you are ready to return and wish to be included on the service invite list, please email me with your contact info and how many will be attending with you. I will put you on the list and send you information on the requirements for participating and the date you may attend.

We have much to consider and many preparations to make as we move in this direction. Please note, youth classes or nursery are not being offered per guidelines, no fellowship time in the café; this means no coffee before or after service and, masks will be required.

I know this all seems like a pain, and we are working to create a safe and joy-filled environment that meets state and Unity guidelines for distancing and public safety.

In all cases, you are welcome to continue to join us for our live streaming of our Sunday Celebration Services.

Much love and gratitude for each of you,
Rev. B

Greetings Beloveds:

June is here, and we are still dealing with physical separation for the most part.  We have a deep desire to be back together in the community, and the current guidelines are challenging at best. We have come up with some ideas to begin gently bringing us back.

We will be hosting a few events, movies and discussions, classes, meditations, and discussion groups that we will offer in a hybrid format. We are planning for people to be onsite (within limits), and those who wish to keep extended distance will be able to connect via Zoom.

Please watch your email blast and our website and our FB page for announcements. We will be asking for sign-ups, so we will be able to prepare the space accordingly.

Remember, you are a gift to the world; you are God expressing!

With Love and Gratitude,

Rev. B

Greetings all!

We are planning and working through the long list of requirements to be able to come back together on Sundays at our facility. We will be postponing our on-site services until at least June 21. It seems we are still witnessing marked increases in cases and very stringent requirements for insured safety of our community when we do come back. We are actively working on our strategic plans and setting up training for those who will assist in our Sunday experiences at our Unity of Omaha facility.

Please continue to hold us in your prayers as we navigate these new paradigms. Your safety and wellbeing is our utmost consideration; we are responsible for being good stewards of our community and take this charge very seriously.

We will continue to offer live streaming on both Facebook and YouTube platforms.

More classes are coming via Zoom; please watch for announcements of our next offering.

We have set up a Zoom space for fellowship time after our Sunday services. If you don’t already receive our email, please subscribe so you will receive information about how to access our Zoom sessions.

Please understand, we want to bring all of you back and celebrate our Spiritual journeys together. When we do return, we will be restricted (based on state health mandates) to only services and not be allowed to open the fellowship area for socializing. Please consider connecting with our Zoom social space to catch up with each other.

You are always in my thoughts and prayers; please let me know if there is anything you need or if you just wish to connect.

Many blessings,

Rev. B
