Rae Williams

In 1979, Rae Williams, while attending another church where she was a volunteer Youth Ministries Director, was invited by a friend to attend Unity. That was the beginning for Rae. She continued to act as Youth Ministries Director for this other church, however, after preparing the volunteers for Sunday Service would leave and to attend Unity. Her first volunteer position with Unity was as treasurer for Unity of Today. “ I became treasurer mainly because I had an envelope in my purse!” Since that time she continued to bless us with her energy. “I love the feeling that you get when you are helping others and doing things to make a difference!” Rae stated, when asked what motivates her to volunteer. “It’s the circulation of the energy of giving that you also receive in return.” Rae is always willing to step in where there is a need here at Unity. She is currently the Team Leader for Youth Ministries Summer Program, Substitute Sunday School Teacher, Team Leader for the Counting Team, Reception Volunteer, Member of the Property Team and Jail Ministry. In addition to all this, she has lovingly opened her home to out of town guests! Unity Church of Omaha is blessed!

Volunteer Classifieds

Information Technology

We are hoping to form an Information Technology Team (IT) for website development and maintenance, electronic newsletters, etc. If there is anyone interested, please contact Vicki in the church office at 571-1344. More information will be available soon.

The Unity Singers are looking for voices!

Unity singers-Choir that meets once a week at 9:00-9:30am on Sunday mornings. We will be working on cho-ral part music and performing 4-6 weeks in service. Let’s get in-volved! Experience is not necessary, just a desire and commit-ment to be at practice and performances. See Ron Troester Soon!

Unity Players

This new team is comprised of people that have the acting bug! Currently in rehearsal for their upcoming production, the team welcomes new members to join the fun! Whether your interest is in acting in the next play, helping with set design, helping to create cosutmes, providing refreshments or helping with ticket sales, we welcome you. Please see Shari Sterenberg or Tim Smith for details on how you can get involved!

Unity Prayer Line

The Unity Prayer Line is currently seeking Volunteers for its team. Team members receive instructions and websites where they can choose prayers to record that fit with Unity's teachings. Please contact Team Leader, Mary Betsworth at (402)445-4559 or email at peacelady444@aol.com

Outreach Ministries

The Outreach Ministry team is a group of over a half dozen UCO congregants who regularly provide a loving hand to people in our community. We've been very blessed to provide lunch at the Nebraksa AIDS Project on the first Friday of every other month, loving touch through hand massage for the residents of the Santa Monica house, and Thanksgiving baskets to members of our congregation. There is no feeling that compares to giving! We have some great ideas for other projects so new members are always welcome!

Bimonthly food preparation: Fix lunch for the NE Aids Project
Habitat for Humanity: Assist with home building

Potential Future Projects:
Heifer International: Purchase animals for families in 3rd world countries.
Soles for Souls: Provide shoes for those in need

Wedding Team Volunteers
Do you slow down when you see a bridal party gather outside of church? Then there is an opportunity for you on the Wedding Team. You will be part of a team helping to take care of excitable brides and nervous grooms. You will assist in correspondence, showing our facility, at the wedding rehearsal, take care of last minute details at the ceremony, and ensure that the event starts on time. Usher Team

The Usher team presents an opportunity to serve Unity Church of Omaha in a service-team role. As an usher, you have a vital role in assisting your minister and co-members of your church in ensuring that worship services are well organized, orderly, and spiritually
inspiring/inviting. Ushers extend hospitality to all who enter our doors. Serving is a reciprocal gift of love arising from a commitment to your church. The usher team is always open to new team members and creative ideas. Joan Woodward, our current teamleader, will be moving from Omaha in June. If interested please contact Joan at

The Youth Education Department
Needs 3 Volunteers for the Uniteen’s Class

Please help our Youth Education Department by volunteering your time and talents to the Uniteen Class 1-2 weekends a month! As a Uniteen Leader you will prepare and facilitate lessons (provided by Y.E. Dept.), help coordinate events and plan special service projects, be a coach and role model for young teens. Elementary Children need your help
VOLUNTEER TODAY!

We need some caring people to volunteer their time for two Elementary classes, grade 1-3 and 4&5. These classes are currently on break until such time as the teacher’s positions have been filled sufficiently to resume classes. If you are interested in teaching Elementary please contact Stacey Podany, Youth Ministries Director. Reap the rewards of working with our youth!

Welcome Team-Help to welcome those new faces and make them friends!

Tape Ministry-Prepare & distribute audiotapes of Sunday services.

Events Team-Help plan, coordinate and provide assistance. Must be enthusiastic, with excellent attention to details.

Recycling Team-Gather articles from recycling bins and bring to recycling centers 2X’s per month.

Media Team-Help produce church flyers, brochures, and advertisements. Must be computer literate having experience with Microsoft office programs.

Decorating Team-Assist in making our church home beautiful throughout the year!

Outreach Ministry-Helping with community outreach projects through such organizations as the Nebraska Aids Project, Open Door Mission, and Habitat for Humanity and much more!

Usher/Greeter Team-Assists before and during worship service by creating a friendly, loving and inviting atmosphere, while promoting an orderly and comfortable setting.

Pet Ministry-This volunteer team honors our rich and mutually rewarding relationship with animals. They provide education, assistance and coordinate events, such as our annual Pet Blessing Day.

The Hospitality (Café) Team-This team arranges all the delicious goodies that are served after service. You may choose to set up coffee, clean up afterwards, or bring special goodies for our church family to enjoy.

Request a Speaker/Workshop

Unity Church welcomes the use of the facilities for Unity sponsored classes, workshops, speakers and other events. If you are interested in having a speaker, workshop or other event, you may drop your proposal at the front desk or send it by mail to Vicki Wilson. Please be sure to include as much information as possible (I.E. tapes or videos of speaker, workshop outline, event purpose, flyers, financial needs, etc.) Also, any suggestions for classes or support groups should be referred to Vicki.
